Salvation Prayer
This isn't an "official prayer" but rather a sample prayer to follow when asking Jesus to be your Saviour and your Lord. You can pray to God in your own words.
The basis of the sinner's prayer comes from Romans 10:9-10. "That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto being made righteous; and with the mouth, confession is made unto eternal salvation."
Dear God in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for the things I have done wrong, and the life I have lived without you; I need your forgiveness.
I believe that your Son Jesus Christ shed His blood on the cross and died for my sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin.
You said in Your Holy Word, that if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved.
Right now I confess Jesus as the Lord of my soul. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Saviour and according to His Word, I believe I am saved.
Thank you Jesus for your great mercy. I trust that you will begin to transform my life so that I may bring glory and honour to you alone and not to myself.
Thank you Jesus for dying for me and giving me eternal life.
Amen.
